Everyone has heard the old saying that you are what you eat. Especially when discussing diet and weight loss, etc. While that certainly is true, it's not just about food. We are truly a byproduct of what we consume:
- Are you surrounding yourself with people that fill you with negative gossip and a sour view of the world?
- Are you watching drama filled reality shows in excess that poison your view of real world interactions?
- Are you spending more time watching porn that creating intimate time with your significant other
- Is you social circle full of people lifting you up and working hard to lift themselves up each day, or is it full of naysayers and complainers
- Is your job just a job, grinding away for a paycheck. Or is it part of a fulfilling career that allows you to get excited and passionate about what you do.
- When you are stressed do you turn to exercise, meditation, reading and other healthy habits or reach for a can of beer or a pint of ice cream (yes part of this is really about what you eat!!)
What we fill our brains (and stomachs with :) ) will determine both what our outlook on life is like as well as what kind of results we are going to get from our efforts. We have to protect our energy, our values and our future by ensuring that we are disciplined and judicious about both who we spend our time with, as well as what media we consume and what fuel we use to power our bodies.
There is another old saying that birds of a feather flock together. What kind of flock do you want to be a part of. Do you want to soar like an eagle and have fresh trout for dinner each night soaring high above all others. Or would you rather be with a flock of vultures picking the carcasses of what is left that the world has to give. That is a conscious choice that is 100% within our control and is ALOT less work than we think:
Want to get ahead professionally? - Stay far away from the office gossipers and complainers and find people motivated to get ahead. Join professional networking organizations and get out and surround yourselves with others trying to improve. If you are going to surf the internet at work (we all do who have access) read and watch content that is going to fill your brain and soul with good fuel not mindless drivel.
Want to improve your relationship with your significant other? - You have to invest and it doesn't mean just knocking a chore off the list. It means taking time to really listen, create positive conversation, give to your partner unselfishly (think foot massage with no expectations of more), and take an unselfish interest in their day. Don't go to the other room to watch a show alone (let alone porn), don't make an excuse to do yard work alone or hang in the garage. Sure, there is a time place and true need for alone time, but we MUST make sure we make time for our partners as well that is meaningful and unselfish.
Want to finally lose weight, quit drinking, stop abusing drugs? - First off all of the above will help BIG TIME! However community helps here and with all of the tools available online and through social media it is easier than ever to surround and connect yourself with others that are on the same path to recovery and looking for a more healthy relationship with food / alcohol / drugs. Find an accountability partner and be part of something bigger than yourself. No it is not easy but alone it is NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. Again the ideas listed before this paragraph will already go a long way towards putting you around goal oriented, positive, healthy people as well as enhance your home life which may be a source of stress feeding your addictions.
Again - birds of a feather flock together. Make sure you are flying with a flock of eagles looking for another fresh, delicious and healthy meal. Not vultures picking the remains of the lives that others have lived.
Lastly STAY FAR FROM FACEBOOK POLITICS LOL!!!. Nothing good to feed your mind, body or soul is ever going to come from that.! (and you are never changing anyone's mind on there anyway, a true waste of our 4k/2k weeks)
